Five years later, Eren, Mikasa, and their brilliant strategist friend Armin Arlert graduate from the 104th Training Corps. During a surprise attack by the Colossal Titan in Trost District, Eren is swallowed whole into a Titan's stomach after saving Armin's life.
Inside the river of blood and severed limbs, Eren's absolute willpower awakens the dormant power injected into him by his father Grisha. A rogue 15-meter muscular Titan with pointed ears bursts out of the belly, slaughtering other Titans with martial arts techniques. When the Titan collapses, Eren emerges from its nape. Utilizing this miraculous Titan form, Eren carries a colossal boulder across Trost, sealing the breach in humanity's first military victory against the Titans.
Taken into custody by the military tribunal, Eren is placed under the custody of Commander Erwin Smith and humanity's strongest soldier, Captain Levi Ackerman, within the Scout Regiment.
Betrayal Among Friends and the Royal Uprising
During the 57th Expedition beyond the walls, the Scouts are ambushed by the intelligent, crystallized Female Titan, who specifically targets Eren. After a blood-soaked chase in the forest of giant trees, Armin unmasks the Female Titan as their own cadet comrade, Annie Leonhart. Cornered within Wall Sheena, Annie encases herself in an impenetrable crystal cocoon.
At Utgard Castle, a terrifying hairy beast—the Beast Titan—reveals the horrifying truth that Titans are actually transformed humans. In a shocking, casual confession atop the wall, cadet heroes Reiner Braun and Bertholdt Hoover unmask themselves as the Armored and Colossal Titans. Betrayed by his brother-like mentors, Eren battles Reiner in a savage grapple. Later, cornered by the Smiling Titan that killed his mother, Eren strikes its hand with his bare fists, awakening the mythical Coordinate (Founding Titan) power, commanding mindless Titans to tear the Smiling Titan to shreds.
In the Uprising Arc, Erwin Smith stages a bloodless coup against the puppet monarchy, crowning Historia Reiss as the rightful queen of the walls, while Levi confronts his estranged uncle, the ruthless Kenny the Ripper.
The Battle to Reclaim Wall Maria and the Basement Truth
The Scouts launch the fateful operation to plug Wall Maria and reach the Yeager family basement. Reiner, Bertholdt, and the Beast Titan Zeke spring a deadly trap. Facing a hail of crushed boulders, Commander Erwin Smith leads recruits in a legendary suicide charge, allowing Captain Levi to flank the Beast Titan and shred Zeke to pieces.
Meanwhile, Armin sacrifices his body, allowing himself to be roasted to a crisp by Bertholdt's steam so Eren can blindside the Colossal Titan. Levi chooses to inject Armin with Titan serum over Erwin, allowing Armin to consume Bertholdt and inherit the Colossal Titan.
Eren unlocks the basement with his father's key. Inside, three journals and a photograph reveal the mind-shattering truth: humanity has not perished at all. The people inside the walls are the "Subjects of Ymir" (Eldians), exiled to Paradis Island by the technologically advanced global empire of Marley. Reaching the ocean coast for the first time, Eren points toward the horizon: "If we kill all our enemies over there... will we finally be free?"
The Raid on Liberio, The Paths, and The Rumbling
Four years later, an undercover Eren infiltrates Marley. At the festival in Liberio, right as Willy Tybur declares total annihilation against Paradis Island, Eren transforms beneath the stage, devours the War Hammer Titan, and extracts Zeke back to Paradis.
Rejecting Zeke's pacifist Eldian euthanasia plan, Eren enters the timeless dimension of The Paths. He frees the spirit of the original founder, Ymir Fritz, from two thousand years of royal slavery. Eren unleashes the absolute terror of the Rumbling: the stone shells of Wall Maria, Rose, and Sheena crumble, releasing tens of millions of colossal Titans that begin trampling across continents, wiping out 80% of human civilization.
In the climactic Battle of Heaven and Earth, an alliance of surviving Scouts and Marleyan warriors confront Eren's colossal Founding Titan form. Mikasa Ackerman makes the ultimate heartbreak sacrifice, severing Eren's head inside the Titan's mouth and kissing his lips. Seeing Mikasa choose duty over her deepest love liberates Ymir from her toxic attachment to King Fritz, eradicating the Power of the Titans from the world forever. Armin mourns his brother Eren, carrying the torch of diplomacy to rebuild a scarred, mortal world.
